Senior Robotics and Automation Advisor - US, Remote

Job description

Are you excited about the potential of automation to transform performance of industrial companies? – Of applying technology to improving business?

Do you have extensive experience with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, and Automation? And are you a person who naturally ‘owns the room’ and takes lead of a situation?

Does a highly independent, flexible, and hands-on way of working in a rapidly developing company appeal to you?

Then we might have the perfect job for you!

HowToRobot in the US is seeking a Senior Advisor with proven advisory capabilities, a relevant engineering background and the ability to identify and communicate the value of practical automation solutions.

About us:

Operating independently, HowToRobot helps clients unlock the potential of physical automation and robotics across industries.

We work with our clients to identify automation opportunities and how they support their business objectives. We help scoping and specifying solutions and connect our clients with the right vendors who can meet their requirements. This way, we guide our clients on their automation journey from start to finish.

About the Senior Advisor role:

As a Senior Advisor, you are responsible for client impact!

We do not consider ourselves successful until our clients see the business impact materializing that they are looking for, so you will be applying your technical insights and analyses to develop recommendations to your clients and lead them to act on them.

Your success will depend on your unique mix of experience with Operations in an industrial setting, a strong technical foundation within automation and manufacturing engineering, your leadership skills that enable you to ‘own the room’ and lead your clients– probably from prior experience in advisory/consulting – and your exceptional communication skills.

Being our face towards the client as we deliver on engagements, you play a natural role in cultivating relations, identifying and highlighting client needs and seeing where we can add real value, and so lay the groundwork for further commercial success with the client.

Specific Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead automation advisory projects, ensuring they meet or exceed client expectations for impact and deliver on agreed scope, quality, budget, and timelines.
  • Provide hands-on project management and delivery. We are a small and entrepreneurial organization, so you should expect to be hands-on and creating deliverables yourself.
  • Foster strong relationships with key client stakeholders, understanding their needs and identifying automation potential.
  • Translate technical findings and data into actionable recommendations that are relevant to the client given the business context.
  • Support the commercial team in pre-sales activities, helping to craft technical proposals and solutions for clients.
  • Occasionally represent the company at client workshops, industry events, and conferences.
  • Stay current with advancements in automation and robotics technologies.

About you

We are looking for significant experience in automation and/or operations advisory roles. We would like to see 5-10 years of experience with physical automation and/or advisory/consultancy services and preferably +10 years overall professional experience.

We are looking for leadership experience – not so much because you will necessarily lead a team (we are small and entrepreneurial), but because we believe it will make you able to credibly and naturally ‘sit at the end of the table’ and lead your client. A relevant technical background is a must. You have a solid track record on leading and delivering on successful technical – preferably automation – projects, and you have proven yourself as a strong relationship-builder.

For this particular role, it is a must that you are eligible to work in US ITAR-regulated environments. As a general, but not exclusive guideline, any person eligible to hold a US passport will be eligible to work in US ITAR-regulated environments.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Proven experience in managing and maintaining long-term client relationships, ideally from settings involving physical automation or manufacturing engineering
  • Solid experience with industrial operations and a deep knowledge of industrial processes is essential. Specific expertise in automation and robotics technologies is an advantage.
  • Strong project leadership and stakeholder management skills, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery on multiple projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to plan, outline, and produce compelling written communication are critical to success, along with the ability to translate complex issues and technical data into practical and relevant recommendations.
  • A hands-on approach to problem-solving and project delivery.
  • Commercial acumen, with the ability to identify business opportunities.

Why Join Us?

At HowToRobot, you will be part of a growing, global team working with diverse clients across many industries. We are a young, growing company, where everyone has ample opportunities to influence and contribute to our development.
