About Hemab

Hemab is building preventative treatments for serious, underserved bleeding disorders. These are therapies designed to work with the body's own biology and stop bleeds before they start, instead of treating them after they happen. We're patient-first, science-led and clinical-stage - with a pipeline that takes different scientific approaches to different patient needs.

We went public via our 2026 IPO, and we're scaling across two homes: Cambridge, MA, USA, and Copenhagen, Denmark.

The role

Patients need a meaningful voice in how medicines are developed and how care changes around them. As Senior Director, Global Patient Advocacy Lead, you'll set Hemab's patient advocacy strategy, with a major near-term focus on building our presence, partnerships and understanding of patient communities in the US. Across Glanzmann Thrombasthenia, von Willebrand Disease and, increasingly, heavy menstrual bleeding, you'll build trusted partnerships where strong communities already exist and help create connections and infrastructure where they don't.

Our work starts with patients who have spent too long reacting to bleeds rather than having the chance to prevent them. Patient advocacy at Hemab isn't separate from the science - it helps us understand what patients need and what meaningful progress looks like.

What you'll do

Set Hemab's patient advocacy strategy, with the US as a major focus, deciding where and how we invest to make the greatest difference for the communities we work with.
Build Hemab's relationships with US patient organizations, patients, families and community leaders, while developing partnerships internationally as our programs require.
Build advocacy infrastructure where focused patient organizations don't yet exist, convening communities and supporting emerging groups without speaking on their behalf.
Build Hemab's approach to patient advocacy in heavy menstrual bleeding, particularly in the US, helping an under-recognized community become better connected, heard and understood.Design and lead patient advisory boards, turning what you hear into useful input for development strategies and decisions.
Bring patient perspectives directly into Asset Teams and partner with clinical and go-to-market colleagues on patient-facing materials and trial engagement.
Gather and steward patient stories ethically, with clear consent, dignity and control over how each person's experience is shared.
Build representation into our approach so underserved and geographically dispersed patients have meaningful opportunities to contribute.

What you'll bring to Hemab

Significant senior-level experience in patient advocacy, community engagement or patient-focused strategy, with evidence that you've shaped strategy as well as delivered it.
A track record of building credible, durable relationships with patient organizations and communities.
Experience building patient communities or advocacy infrastructure from the ground up, particularly in the US healthcare and patient advocacy environment.
Experience creating and leading patient advisory boards and translating patient insight into action.
Strong knowledge of ethical patient engagement and storytelling, including consent, dignity and appropriate boundaries.
Experience partnering across clinical development and other functions to bring patient perspectives into decisions.
Willingness to travel regularly, including internationally and occasionally for evening or weekend community events.

Nice to have

Experience in bleeding disorders, rare disease, heavy menstrual bleeding or women's health.
Experience in a scaling biotech and across late-stage development, approval and launch.

What to expect, honestly

Hemab is still building a lot of its own structure. Systems here tend to get created as we need them, not handed down in advance. Whoever takes this role will likely build some of their own process instead of inheriting a finished one. We work across two hubs and multiple time zones - bridging that well takes real, deliberate effort. And because we're growing quickly, priorities can shift with less notice than they would at a larger, more established company.
