About Hemab

Hemab is building preventative treatments for serious, underserved bleeding disorders. These are therapies designed to work with the body's own biology and stop bleeds before they start, instead of treating them after they happen. We're patient-first, science-led and clinical-stage - with a pipeline that takes different scientific approaches to different patient needs.

We went public via our 2026 IPO, and we're scaling across two homes: Cambridge, MA, USA, and Copenhagen, Denmark.

The role

As our Senior Director, People Partner in Copenhagen, you will be the trusted people advisor to our European organization during a period of fast growth - an employee champion and change agent who translates business priorities into scalable, human people solutions.

You will help our managers lead well, give our teams a great experience, and put the light, enabling infrastructure in place that let the business move at pace, without importing bureaucracy the culture doesn't want.

You will be the person who protects our team-spirit ethos as we grow. This is a crucial chance to help build the team behind medicines that could change what daily life looks like for people who have lived with serious bleeding disorders their whole lives. You will do it at a company small enough that your work is visible and stage-defining, and well-funded enough to do it properly.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the connective tissue between our Copenhagen and Cambridge teams, closing information and communication gaps as we scale across two hubs.
  • Adapt recognition, feedback, and career-visibility practices to fit the Danish and broader European context (rather than defaulting to a one-size-fits-all US approach).
  • Champion fairness and transparency in how people are developed and promoted.
  • Coach and support managers in developing their leadership capabilities, guiding them through complex organizational and employee-relations matters.
  • Own and improve the European employee experience, from preboarding and onboarding through to integration, in partnership with our office and experience team.
  • Ensure our people practices across Denmark and the wider EU are well-run and compliant, including employment law, data handling and GDPR, and clear, simple policies where we need them.
  • Partner on organizational design, workforce planning, and change as we scale across two continents.
  • Work closely with Talent Acquisition, Compensation & People Operations, and the office team to give employees a seamless journey.
  • Support engagement, performance, and development, drawing on both qualitative and quantitative insight, and champion our culture.

What you'll bring to Hemab

  • Substantial people-partnering experience (typically 10+ years) in fast-paced, high-growth settings, ideally in biotech, life sciences, or another science-led environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Danish and broader European employment law and people practices, and comfort with data protection and GDPR.
  • A pragmatic builder's mindset: able to create just enough structure to help the business, and no more.
  • Warmth, low ego, and real credibility with managers and senior leaders, with the communication and influencing skills to flex your approach and land solutions.
  • Excellent judgement and self-awareness, and a genuine curiosity that keeps you learning and developing others.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and pace, and a genuinely hands-on approach.
  • Fluent English (fluency in Danish is highly preferred).

What to expect, honestly

Hemab is still building a lot of its own structure. Systems here tend to get created as we need them, not handed down in advance. Whoever takes this role will likely build some of their own process instead of inheriting a finished one. We work across two hubs and multiple time zones - bridging that well takes real, deliberate effort. And because we're growing quickly, priorities can shift with less notice than they would at a larger, more established company.

This is the actual shape of working somewhere at this stage: It's genuinely energising for the right person and genuinely frustrating for the wrong one. If you want a place where the operating manual is already written, this might not be it – but if you want to help write it, this might be exactly it.

Why Hemab

At Hemab, your work ultimately connects back to something simple. People living with serious bleeding disorders get something they've never had before - the chance to prevent a bleed, instead of reacting to one after it happens. You'll be joining at a stage where individual decisions still carry real weight, and where your work can help turn promising science into a preventative treatment that actually reaches patients.

How we treat our people is meant to be an extension of how we think about patients: with care, honesty, and respect. We're still building the consistency to back that up across every hiring process, every time. We'd say that plainly instead of pretending otherwise. If any part of your experience with us falls short of it, tell us.

Hemab builds balanced candidate slates and assesses everyone against a single standard. If you need a reasonable adjustment at any stage of the hiring process, please tell us.
